Ashley has always found herself funny, but it wasn’t until writing a satire column for her college newspaper that she realized other people found her funny, too.  After graduating from Lynchburg College with a degree in English and History, she started classes at the DC Improv's Comedy School and made her way to Washington Improv Theater (WIT), where she’s fallen head over heels for improv. Ashley is one of the original cast members of 4&9 Productions' FILMPROV, and she hopes Lorne Michaels reads her bio and calls her.
J. W. started his comedy career in high school by placing 2nd in a regional screen-writing competition.  During his college years, he developed an interest in film and continued writing.  After moving to the District in March 2008, he tried out an improv class and found a second passion.  He is currently acting, writing and producing both live and filmed shows.
After finishing school with a interior design degree at Virginia Tech, Katie quickly immersed herself in the improv scene in DC by taking classes at the DC Improv's Comedy School and Washington Improv Theater (WIT).  Katie is happy to have found a way to act like herself without getting called out as being "crazy" or "desperate," and thanks her parents for all the years she subjected them to her living room performances.
Meet TV-MA - Ashley Whitehurst, Katie Dufresne, and J.W. Crump met through taking classes at the DC Improv's Comedy School and Washington Improv Theater (WIT).  Their first performance together as TV-MA so was fresh and funny that they were asked to join 5678 in the cast of Slow News Day (coming this summer to DC Capital Fringe Fest).  TV-MA hopes to bring you back to the days when the characters on television shows had real problems to worry about.
